La Serrana is an Eco Farm and Hostel in the heart of Colombia�s coffee region. Just 1.5 km, a short 20 minute walk outside of Salento�s center, La Serrana is the perfect place to enjoy everything that this beautiful area has to offer.We opened in April of 2010 on a working dairy farm. The hostel occupies one six bedroom house on the farm. There is another smaller building which is has three guest rooms which will be in use soon and our restaurant where we serve our complimentary breakfast and week night dinners. La Serrana is a 20 hectare green pasture with 360 degree views of the mountains, valleys and the entire department of Quindio. Our guests can enjoy all of the benefits of town and the tranquility of the farm.La Serrana means viewpoint and one of the best things we can offer are the views of numerous valleys and misty peaks. Perched on a high green pasture, the hostel has a 360 degree view of the Los Nevados Mountain range. You can see all the way to Armenia from the hostel, and on a clear day, the top of the 5,300m high Nevado del Tolima.One of Colombia's unique aspects is its diverse climate, from ocean level Caribbean heat, to the soft, soothing mists of soaring mountain peaks that serve Colombia's high altitude, superior quality coffee farms. La Serrana offers a welcome break from the intense heat of Colombia�s lower lying regions, a travellers� haven indeed.As you enter our property through the spacious garden, you are received into a common space filled with antiques, big wooden and leather furniture, creating an opportunity for you to enjoy all the comfort of a traditional Colombian farm house, styled with New York antique chic.We have a well stocked, large open kitchen for guests and lots of seating for family dinners to compliment the tranquil ambiance. The living areas have plenty of space and lots of plush comfy sofas to sit back, relax and unwind after busy travel. Large wooden and stained glass windows paint picture perfect views from all points of the house and kitchen.The dorms have large, sturdy quality, wooden bunk beds. The privates are spacious and great for groups up to five.There are lots of movies to watch in our hard-to-leave living room.
