UPDATE: HI-Mt Edith Cavell will be opening for the summer season on June 15th, 2011.The 3,363-metre peak of Mt. Edith Cavell towers over our little hostel set in a narrow valley below this spectacular setting. Aside from easy access to breath-taking views of the Angel Glacier and the Cavell Meadows, HI-Mount Edith Cavell is the perfect base to start backcountry hikes into the Tonquin Valley. This is a wilderness hostel with limited creature comforts - no running water, no showers, and no flush toilets. We do have purified water for cooking, a refrigerator, propane stoves and lights. It is important to note that in the winter (Oct to May) the ROAD UP TO THE HOSTEL IS CLOSED, guests will be required to hike, ski, or snowshoe up to the hostel from the highway. *approx 11km***NOTE - Due to the wilderness location, accessibility for the physically disabled is challenging (call for further details) Credit Card needed when making reservations. Due to lack of direct/reliable communication with the Wilderness Hostels the Central Reservation Office is not able to make same day arrival reservations - walk in basis only. 48 hours individual cancellation - at all wilderness hostels.
