Despite the location, a hostel to be endured rather than enjoyed. The kitchen facilities for a hostel of this size are WOEFUL. Only one working power point in the kitchen, hence you have to unplug the microwave to use the toaster :-(

The hostel is at the lake side in beautiful enviroment. The breakfast is fantastic :-)) Great place to stay!!!

Bog standard hostel, pleasant enough but the beds are not that comfortable and the sheets make a lot of noise!

Very disappointed having paid over 60 pounds stg per night. Noisy groups next door late at night plus the noise from the waterfront. Sorry won\'t be back. Stayed at New Larnark Youth Hostel which was far better quality and 50% cheaper.
I understand you are doing some improvements later this year. You need a major revamp not cosmetic touch ups.
Have a look at the recently built Edinburgh Youth Hostel - 5 Star and brilliant. First Class.

The shuttle bus driver John is very nice and gives us many advices about Ambleside.
