The hostel

The hostel was a school temporarily turned into a hostel during the break. We stayed in separate rooms when we booked for to be together. Poor facilities: dirty kitchen, shower, no internet or anything else. Located in a long walk away from the station. All night, drunken people were shouting in the corridors and making a mess. We were there for 8 hours in total and were glad to be out of hell.

Absolutely amazing, will recommend this hostel to everyone I know, Everything exceeded our expectations, Tomas was exceeding helpful and was always available for advice and recommendations, so much so, we extended our stay and extra day. Our first night we popped to the IF jazz bar, where we had a terrific time and experienced some exceptional hospitality, I live in Edinburgh, one of the top tourist cities in the world, well thanks to The Maxim hostel and the jazz bar, Budapest ranks up there.

Loads of character. Staff pretty poorly informed i.e. rooms double booked, free breakfast offered but did not eventuate. Sheets were damp on the first night! Free dinners pretty good. No bar (?)

Was a bit scared when I arrived as from outside it doesnt look too good but I had a real nice time there thanks to Thomas and the other members of the staff.
