an awesome stay at the matterhorn hostel. there was absolutely nothing Zermatter with the hostel. good vibe.

Great location close to the slopes
Nice bar downstairs with good food
The security isn't very good, all doors are always left unlocked but you do get a locker but some of the lockers are tiny and don't fit your luggage

Great hostel. It's less than a 5 minute walk to the main cable car station and it's not far from the center of town either. Free wi-fi. You get a big locker to put all your stuff in while you're skiing which is a great piece of mind. Also, the bar down stairs (sparky's) has great food which is well priced for Zermatt. And sparky himself is pretty cool to have a beer with.

The staircase was very narrow and steep, it was difficult to get my luggage up and down. The reception is closed for a huge block of time. The kitchen is really more just a sitting area, there's no sink or stove.

Sparky and Tina make the hostel worth staying in, as well as the prime location. Sadly, a few down points-3 of the 5 showers were broken, no security on main door late at night so anyone could walk in. Only a toaster and kettle for cooking facilities and 8 people crammed into a room that would be perfect for 6.
