the hostel itself is absolutly fine, with a cosy common room, good rates and all the amenities one would expect, however the location is appalling - or rather the road that leads to the hostel is. increadibly steep and no street lights at 6am on a rainy morning with 2 heavy bags caused me to nearly break my ankle. be very careful　on that road!!

The staff was really helpfull and the location was good, just up the hill from the tram. Over all a good choice for anyone wanting to stay a few day in Matsumaya.

We booked a private room but seemed to received a dorm room to ourselves... kind of disappointed. Very warm and cozy! Annoying that we got booted out of common room at 12... Be prepared for a good up-hill to get there!

We had a fantastic time at Matsuyama Youth Hostel. It has a warm, homely atmosphere that made us feel right at home. If all Japanese hostels are like MYH, I'd happily stay at another hostel again.

Youth hostel in the city is more conveniently located. Beds are not comfortable. Shower mat was full of hair and refridgerator outsides were sticky.

It's a bit of an oddball hostel but friendly enough and close to the onsen.

we stayed in this hostel for 3 nights... and well, there are some things we didn`t like.. for exemples, the rooms cannot be locked because there`s no keys, the showers and the bathrooms are not very clean and the hostel is not very simple to be find.. expecially with many luggages...! we`ve been obliged to call a taxy to get there, because of the way is not good...at all!! but here you can find a lot of friendly people to know..! the staff is ok!
