The bathroom was filthy (had not been cleaned for WEEKS, pubic hair in the sink!) Staff spoke ONLY Italian. Our sink had a leak and the entire floor was covered with water. For the price we paid for a double private room I expected more. Do not stay here. It was the worst place we stayed at on our 2 week Tuscany trip. There is a small bistro downstairs and there were noisy people keeping us awake late into the night. Car is essential.

The hostel was a bit too far away to be really practical as a base to visit Cinque Terre, esp as the last bus back there from La Spezia Central was 8.30pm. Our double room consisted of two single beds that were different heights by about 3 inches pushed together. However, the room was really clean and big, thr staff were very friendly and helpful, and the pizza from the restaurant downstairs was great! Would recommend if you don't mind being a bit further out.
