Welcome to Hostel Pangea... where you pay for everything. $2 to rent a towel, $9 for laundry, $2 for a half hour of using the pool table (which i never saw being used), sodas and water that cost twice as much more than what you pay around the corner at the grocery store. On the positive side, the place was very clean, and the restaurantbar on top was pretty nice.

I dont know if the staff didnt like their jobs, but their service wasnt good. It was bad that all the comunal areas was reserved for the bar. No good vibes.

If you have are looking for a place in San Jose, try elsewhere.. I recommend Hostel Bekuo. Hostel Pangea's pros: decorative walls, poolrestaurant if you don't want to experience S.J. Cons: dangerous location (guaranteed to see a prostitute- very interesting though!), money-grubbing vibe, horrible food, only about 5 of their advertised 20 or so computers had working internet. I highly recommend Hostel Bekuo over this place.

LIKES: 1. Staff was very helpful. 2. Security was at the front door at all times. DISLIKES: 1. Most expensive place I stayed in 5 CA countries. ($32 room$7 burrito or quesidella$9 for laundry $9-18 for a ride to airport$1 for towel - it adds up). 2. The room was dirtyno fitted sheets had to fight with it to keep it on bed no fan in a small hot room mattress was old - I could feel every spring. 3. Hot water was broken on this stay.

had great time many like minded people very good staff. late night afther 3am staff are hard to find if you are arriving late they will be there for you though. hot water showers good bar and food close to central ave which is great and close to local bus stops. 6 dollars taxi to international bus stop. all round good place

i wouldn't stay at Pangea again. in terms of social atmosphere, it's great - TV rooms, bar, good restaurant food....but in terms of bedbathroom - horrible. mattress was very thin and i could feel springs from wires underneath. shower was pretty much a cold dribble, and bathroom was gross.

the hostel is nice...great place to meet people and an amazing roof top area. but when you booked a pick up from the airport be sure, that your flight is on time otherwise the cab is gone and they will charge you about 18 $ for a cab that you didn't take...
