The location was brilliant, couldn't be more central. The kitchen however was the worst thing I've ever seen in 3 months in aus, dirty no tools.disgusting!

Excellent location, right where you need to be. No air con but sleeping was ok. Pretty ornaments above doors to lift your mood! Bar downstairs is the best idea- means no trekking up and down town for a drink! Its excellent as far as hostels go! You wouldn't be disappointed!

Noisey at night, which wasnt help by guests runing through the halls at night.
No air conditioning, and no opening window to get any circulation.
Could do with a renovation!

The scores above are for the Base Embassy as Base Central overbooked their rooms, not a good start! The low scores are due to poor quality of kitchens (dirty tablesseats with cockroaches onin and only one working hob!) and the social areas distributed over a number of floors.

There was a leaking sprinkler head in the hallway, and our room smelled moldy and we couldn't open the window...

We really did not rate this hostel and infact complained to staff and we were transferred to the other base hostel in Brisbane called Embasy. Base central is very run down, dingy and just generally not nice. Base Embasy, although a little better is still not great and I certainly wouldn't stay there again or recommend either to anyone.

Don't go here if you want any sleep. Even single rooms. The pub below starts pumping heavy base music at 9pm and doesn't stop till 4am - every night of the week. Even ear plugs can't keep the noise out.

i stayed here a week, very good location and very helpful and friendly staff. very well run hostel, with a tours desk and jobs desk that got people jobs on the spot. crazy bar downstairs if you want to party.
